Programmatic implications of the efficiency of uptake of Onchocerca volvulus microfilariae by Simulium sp. vectors. International Health. 2026;18(Supplement_1):i60–i67. DOI: 10.1093/inthealth/ihag037 Files included: 1. DATA_(Long Format).xlsx – participant observations arranged by study time point. 2. DATA_(Wide Format).xlsx – participant observations arranged with study time points represented across variables. 3. Data Dictionary.xlsx – variable names, descriptions and variable types for the long and wide datasets. 4. Geographical Coordinates.xlsx – geographical coordinates for the Bosomase and Krobo study communities. The dataset includes skin microfilariae measurements from the iliac crest and calf and vector microfilariae uptake measurements at Day 0, Day 8, Day 90 and Day 365.
This dataset contains participant-level and vector microfilariae uptake data used in the study “Programmatic implications of the efficiency of uptake of Onchocerca volvulus microfilariae by Simulium sp. vectors.” The dataset includes skin microfilariae density measurements obtained from skin snip samples collected from the iliac crest and calf, together with measurements of vector microfilariae uptake. Data were collected at four study time points: baseline (Day 0), Day 8, Day 90, and Day 365 following ivermectin treatment. The dataset contains observations for 35 study participants and is provided in both wide and long formats. A data dictionary describing the variables and a file containing the geographical coordinates of the study communities are also included. The data support analyses assessing the relationship between human dermal Onchocerca volvulus microfilarial density and uptake of microfilariae by Simulium vectors, with implications for onchocerciasis transmission and elimination programmes.
